Latin singer Ricky Martin, who recently revealed he was gay after years of media speculation, has been honoured as a research gala for AIDS in New York. The Latin singer, famous in the UK for his 1999 hit single Livin La Vida Loca (and also She Bangs) revealed he was gay earlier this year on his website following years of speculation by elements of the press. In the 1990’s the singer also had a small part on ABC medical soap General Hospital.

 

Following his coming out earlier this year Martin has been honoured at a research gala for AIDS in New York – it was his first public appearance since revealing his sexuality. Martin was honoured for the contributions he has made to an AIDS foundation. Also in attendance at the event were Cyndi Lauper and Kylie Minogue.
