CBS renews The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bild and the BeautifulFollowing the news that CBS has renewed its daytime soap The Young and the Restless for a further three years its been reported that sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful has also been renewed by the broadcaster.

The Bold and the BeautifulCBS is keeping its two remaining soaps on-air for at least the next few years. Yesterday it was revealed that the broadcaster has renewed America’s top-rated daytime soap, The Young and the Restless for a further three years meaning it’ll be on-air until 2014 at least. Now comes the news that its sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful has also been renewed by CBS for two years meaning it’ll be on-air until 2013.

The news of either soap being renewed isn’t exactly surprising even given CBS cancellation of two soaps in the past two years. While The Young and the Restless is the top-rated soap in America its sister The Bold and the Beautiful is the most watched daytime soap in the world. B&B has an estimated daily audience of 30 million viewers and is popular in countries such as Australia, Germany, New Zealand and even here in the UK.

The soap was shown on digital channel Diva TV until earlier this year when the broadcaster stopped airing episodes – even though B&B was its top-rated programme. Thousands of fans complained to Diva TV about the decision and even received the backing of Bold and the Beautiful star Ron Moss. However, Diva TV did not relent on its decision and no other UK broadcaster, as yet, has picked up the soap.
