Blitz on UTV

UTV is urging anyone who remembers The Blitz to get in touch to commemorate the 70^th Anniversary and help create an archive of Second World War’s impact on Northern Ireland.

“I grew up hearing my own father’s Blitz stories. He was 13 in April 1941, and lived on Belfast’s Ormeau Road. As we approach the 70^th anniversary, this really is a last chance for those who were there to tell their stories, as living history. We at UTV want to be the custodians of your memories, so they can be preserved for future generations.” – UTV Live Tonight presenter, Paul Clark

UTV is working with broadcaster Denis Tuohy to produce a series of programmes aired as part of UTV Live Tonight. The Blitz left around 100,000 people homeless in 1941 and the ITV broadcaster wants to hear from anyone with memories of the events. If your family were refugees from the raids, firemen, fire-watchers or witnessed the raids, UTV are looking to hear from you.

Anyone can share this chapter of Northern Ireland’s history by contributing experiences, photographs or keepsakes from The Blitz by visiting the special microsite www.u.tv/blitz and following the easy instructions online.
