ITV and Sky Sports to continue Champions League Coverage
Uefa have announced that ITV and Sky Sports will continue to broadcast the Champions League between 2012 and 2015. In a deal similar to one of recent years, Sky will Broadcast the lions share of matches, with ITV having the first pick of one match on Tuesday Evenings.
ITV will also have Highlights on Tuesday evening as well as online highlights on both evenings matches online. Sky Sports will cover Majority of matches from the final qualifying round, continuing to take advantage of it’s interactive facility. Sky and ITV will have a semi-final each and will share coverage of the final.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA, said: “The renewal with ITV and Sky Sports will deliver extensive coverage of the UEFA Champions League across all broadcast platforms guaranteeing that it is widely accessible to all football fans throughout the United Kingdom. UEFA is delighted to maintain and further extend its current successful relationship with ITV and Sky Sports until 2015.”
The joint deal is worth around £400 million pounds and it also includes shared coverage of the Uefa Super Cup.
