Body in Balance to air Sex Education series

Fitness channel Body in Balance, which is usually home to programmes about healthy living, dance, fitness and exercise and yoga has turned to sex, or “sex education” as they describe it, to boost ratings. (Warning details are frank)

 

Body in Balance which broadcasts on Sky channel 275 is launching what it describes as a “groundbreaking educational series on sex to a global television audience for the first time.”

Each half hour programme of The Lovers’ Guide will explore one aspect of a healthy and loving sexual relationship, with added commentary from some of the world’s best known names in sexual health and relationships. Thirty episodes are being created, covering a wide range of topics.

“Body in Balance exists to promote wellbeing and happiness through entertaining and informative programming. The benefits of a healthy sex life are almost infinite. They range from a lowering of blood pressure to the boosting of the immune system, the reduction of pain through to burning calories and the improvement of sleep.” The broadcaster says.

The series is directed and produced by Robert Page, and programme titles include a wide range of everyday educational topics such as, ‘creative positions’, ‘sex games’, ‘sex aids’ and ‘exploring threesomes and swinging’.

This isn’t the end of the channels venture into boosting ratings though “sex education”, as well as this soon-to-air series, Body in Balance are already co-producing another spin-off series The Lovers’ Guide for the 21st Century, which is due to go into production later this year.

In other news the channel also announced today that former Dempsey and Makepeace actress Glynis Barber is behind a four-part series on the channel. The show, “Secrets of Anti-aging” will air from 24 September 2011.

Glynis says “I’ve been passionate for a long time about all aspects of health and nutrition, the benefits of supplements and maintaining youthfulness at any age. In my new show Secrets of Anti-Aging, I’m delighted to share some of the things I’ve learnt along the way.”
