Chris Colfer: Glee exit 'not my choice'

Chris Colfer{jcomments on}Glee actor Chris Colfer has spoken about the news his character of Kurt will be written out at the end of the show’s third season.

It was revealed earlier this week that Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith would be three of the actors exiting Glee at the end of its third season. Showrunner Ryan Murphy had already stated the third season would be the last for some characters as they would ‘graduate’ and the Fox series would introduce new characters to replace them. Now actor Chris Colfer, who plays the hugely popular gay teen Kurt in the series, has spoken about his impending exit.

It’s definitely not my choice. But I completely understand that it works for the integrity of the show. One of the things that I love about Glee is, despite characters breaking into song in the middle of the hallway, it was very real to me. It always seemed like a very real high school environment. And I think by having some characters graduate, they’ll continue having that element. – Chris Colfer speaking to TV Line.

The actor also, briefly, spoke about the possibility of a Glee spin-off featuring his character.

As of right now, it’s just rumors. I’m not attached or signed on for any spinoff. There hasn’t been anything official yet. – Chris Colfer speaking to TV Line.

Ryan Murphy stated, when announcing the three exits, that they wouldn’t appear in season four of Glee at all.
