Daily Mail group looking to launch new Sunday tabloid?

Reports suggest that Daily Mail and General Trust are looking to launch a new Sunday tabloid as early as next weekend.

The Guardian has claimed that DMGT is looking to launch a new Sunday tabloid due to the gap now left by News of the World, which was axed last week. DMGT’s subsidiary, Associated Newspapers, already publishes The Mail On Sunday which now becomes the most popular newspaper on a Sunday. It is expected that they will increase the print run on Sunday in the wake of the NOTW closure. Other Sunday newspapers are also expected to follow suit and increase print runs.

It is expected that News International will launch The Sun on Sunday next month. They will be looking to claw back the 2.6million avid readers of News of the World. The domain name has already been registered by News International.
