Dallas fans launch campaign to get Charlene Tilton in new series

Charlene TiltonDallas fans have launched a new campaign to make the character of Lucy Ewing a regular in TNT’s revival of the classic 1980s soap.

{jcomments on}Lucy Ewing (Charlene Tilton) is appearing in the pilot episode for the new series alongside fellow original series actors Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and Steve Kanaly. However, fans of Dallas want the character to be a full-time regular in the new series that will follow. Lucy Ewing appeared in the original series of Dallas between 1978 and 1985 and again between 1988 and 1990.

The character also crossover to spin-off series Knots Landing briefly in 1979 as the drama revolved around her parents Val (Joan Van Ark) and Gary Ewing (Ted Shackelford). Lucy was dubbed the “poison dwarf” by Terry Wogan in the UK and it was a nickname that stuck as even recent press reports on the revival of Dallas referred to the character that way.

Lucy Ewing certainly went through the traumas, as did most of the Ewing family, with a marriage to Mitch Cooper (Leigh McCloskey) that didn’t work out because of their different backgrounds. Lucy later became involved with a dangerous photographer who kidnapped her but she was rescued by Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Pam (Victoria Principal). Lucy was often at odds with her uncle J.R (Larry Hagman) who she distrusted intensely because of his involvement in the original break-up of her parents before the series started. Lucy, along with other members of her family, voted to remove J.R from Ewing Oil after Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval) tried to commit suicide because of one of J.R’s dirty schemes.

TNT revealed earlier this month it had ordered a full 10-part series of Dallas for Summer 2012. The revival focuses on the next ‘generation’ of Ewing Oil as the son’s of J.R and Bobby lock horns over the future of the company – ala the two brothers constant battles in the original series. New cast members for the series include Desperate Housewives alums¬† Brenda Strong, Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson.
