News of the World whistle-blower found dead

Former News of the World reporter who was one of the first people to speak out about phone hacking has been found dead at his home.


Sean Hoare had spoken out in the New York Times and BBC’s Panorama programme, stating that phone hacking was “endemic” at the paper. It is also stated that he claimed Andy Coulson was allegedly aware of what was going on at the time. Coulson was arrested and bailed earlier this month – he denies the allegation. Police have said that they don’t Hoare’s death is suspicious.

Later today Rupert and James Murdoch will be quizzed by a media select committee along with former CEO of News International Rebekah Brooks.
