Lorraine Kelly in new Daybreak role?

Lorraine KellyLorraine Kelly is reportedly being lined up for a role on struggling Daybreak as bosses seek to boost its ratings.

Daybreak boss David Kermode has been searching for new presenters since the exit of Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles last year – both of whom were dumped in a bid to boost the breakfast show’s ailing ratings. Now The Sun’s TV Biz is reporting that Kermode is keen to secure Lorraine Kelly for Daybreak. Lorraine Kelly currently has her own show, which follows Daybreak, on ITV1 which continued to attract viewers even when Daybreak was losing them.

“It doesn’t take a genius to realise the answer to ITV’s breakfast problems is staring them in the face…The audiences go up for Lorraine’s slot and the reason for that is Lorraine. She is is down to earth and someone British women can relate to.” – A “source” speaking to The Sun’s TV Biz

However, should Lorraine Kelly decide not to take on the role with Daybreak the tabloid reports there is a ‘back up plan’….making Kate Garraway a full time presenter on the series or hiring Natasha Kaplinsky who has already ruled herself out of the running for Daybreak.
