Darcey Bussell to become new Strictly Come Dancing judge?

Tabloid reports claim Darcey Bussell has signed a deal to replace Alesha Dixon on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Sun reports that Bussell has agreed to replace the departed Dixon on the hit BBC One series. Dixon quit Strictly to join ITV1 series Britain’s Got Talent which is currently airing on Saturday evenings. Dixon’s decision to quit Strictly certainly came as a surprise and sparked plenty of tabloid speculation as to whom would replace her on the Strictly panel.

Almost immediately rumours centred on former judge Arlene Phillips who Alesha Dixon replaced on the panel. Fans of Phillips began a campaign to get her re-installed on Strictly. However, the attention was also on Darcey Bussell who had already appeared on Strictly as a guest judge.

According to The Sun the former Royal Ballet star was persuaded to join Strictly Come Dancing on a permanent basis by Craig Revel Horwood. An ‘insider’ told the tabloid ‘Darcey is a living legend as far as dancing is concerned — and she is just perfect for Strictly. She took some convincing as it means uprooting and being in cold, wet and windy England for four months instead of sunny Sydney.  But she said the Strictly job is probably the one thing that would bring her back. We’re delighted to have her on board.’
