Les Dennis to guest star in ITV’s The Bill

Game show host, turned actor, Les Dennis has landed a role in the long running Thames Television police drama, The Bill.

Producers have cast him as Tom Walker, a man dealing with the suspicious death of his father. The character has been described as very dark, with not one joke in the script.

“It’s great! I watch The Bill and I’ve got loads of actor friends who have been in it so I’m really happy to be in it playing such a meaty role. The bonus is to be back working with Lisa again as we did so much together in the early days. Straight away when we met up again the chemistry was there.”  – Les Dennis

Les will start filming for Thames later this month with his episodes transmitting in August.

He is best known as the face of Central Television’s version of old ATV game show Family Fortunes from 1987 to 2002. He later returned to the same Nottingham studios for his appearance in Crossroads as a psychiatric doctor in 2003.

Other recent work has included a guest appearance on BBC comedy show, Extras – a genre not unfamiliar to Les who has performed stand-up and was one of the stars of long running comedy series The Russ Abbot Show alongside Lisa Maxwell who he is set to be reunited with on The Bill.
