Richard Hammond – Seriously Injured
Jeremy Clarkson calls him a midget, but to millions of Top Gear viewers Richard Hammond is the fearless co-presenter who dares to take on challenges that many wouldn’t dare do.
Like present the dire Richard Hammond’s Five O’Clock Show for the ratings disaster known as ITV1’s 5pm slot.
However, Sky News are reporting he has been seriously injured in a car crash while filming for the BBC 2 car show, Top Gear. A viewer of Top Gear, who clearly isn’t a fan of Richard told us, “He drove reckesslly, did stupid stunts and helped to reinforce the boy racer image is cool.”
Tonight that cool image is blown, as Richard, having gone over 230mph in a sports car, crashed at Elvington airfield, a former RAF base, in North Yorkshire.
The BBC report: “The presenter, 36, was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary which has a special neurological unit. A North Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesman said he was unconscious when they got to the scene and a hospital spokesman described him as “critical”
Mike Thompson, of North Yorkshire Police, said “At 5.45pm this evening we received a report via the fire service of a male person trapped in what was described as an overturned jet car which had been driven on the airfield..
“The male occupant has received serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital at Leeds.”
Update from Sky News at 11.20pm informs viewers that he is now described as stable by the hospital.
