Last 7 Days – Stories In Brief

A quick look at other soap news that has been reported in the press and online over the past seven soapy days.

Hook Up With Steve

What will Dot Branning say? “Ooo I say” no doubt, yes EastEnders’ hard man Phil Mitchell’s real life persona, Steve McFadden has been apparently a rather bad boy. He was spotted leaving the Chinawhite nightclub with porn-star Gemma Storey, who is famed for being used for a good time by Manchester United footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.

A friend of the porn “actress” told the highbrow as ever Sun newspaper: “She loves sex – especially if you give her a few quid.” Nice, eh.

Digital Spy Hollyoaks Image Exclusive

Not a lot to say about it really, but if you’re a teen girl or young chav who can’t wait to watch the episode like any normal person, there are some photos that show the ending to the big story of John Paul – Craig – Sarah love triangle or whatever it is.

Anyway, main thing is seems DS have learned not to put revealing pictures on their main soap page, so unlike the Stella ‘death scene’ incident – which BBC pictures and DS can rightly both take the blame for ruining many peoples enjoyment of the episode, this time that hasn’t happened. Well done DS for some common sense. Praise be.

Corrie Set Broken into Again!

Remember a few months ago, someone broke into the Granada studios in Manchester and nicked the ‘R’ from the Rovers Return sign? Well at the time, Granada promised to increase security to the nations favourite soap – as voted by several TV Quick readers – so they must be quite alarmed that a break-in has happened again.

This time, nothing was stolen – a four-strong gang simply entered the backlot – home to the iconic Rovers Return Inn and other famous Coronation Street locations – and posed for photos!

Adios Andy?

Kevin Fletcher – Andy Sugden in Emmerdale without the farm – has hinted he might leave in a few years.  I have to say I’m bored silly with his love-life storylines. I wish they’d make their minds up, he’s got hooked up, to break-up with one of his many lovers, or wives – I’ve lost track – so many times its got to the point I really don’t care anymore if Andy fell head first into the combine harvester.

Anyway, Fletcher told The Sun: “I’ve played Andy for half of my life, I would like to play him for a couple more years and then I’ll have a think about my future.”

Maybe Andy can go and live with Annie, his gran, in Spain. Although he best be careful – when his half-sister Victoria recently went to see her she came back with a new head – and no one noticed.

Bruce Jones Proud Of Les

Former – some may say disgraced – Coronation Street ‘star’ Bruce Jones told The Sun last week he was “proud” of his character Les Battersby.

What can we say? Typical of the Sun to give time to someone who no one really cares about anymore.. move on Bruce, its over. The viewers have.
