Nip/Tuck to close: Cosmetic surgery drama series Nip/Tuck will get one final season before drawing to a close.
American channel FX has confirmed its ordered 19 more episodes of Nip/Tuck that will make up the final season of the drama. At the moment a 22 episode season is currently airing in America but the additionally 19 episodes, which are the next season, will take the total number of episodes produced to a round 100 episodes.
It’s been decided that the series should draw to a close after 100 episodes. The final episodes should air in early 2011 according to reports. Ryan Murphy, the shows creator and executive producer, will remain with the drama until its close. The decision to end the series after 100 episodes is to preserve the quality of the show which could diminish as it continues producing episode after episode.
Recast for Housewives Kids: The upcoming ‘time-jump’ in the next season of Desperate Housewives will result in several characters being recast.
The fifth season of Desperate Housewives, the ABC drama, will jump ahead in time by five years which will mean that the ‘Scavo’ kids will be recast for the new season. Actor Joshua Moore will take over the part of Parker while brothers Charles and Max Carver will play twins Porter and Preston and actress Kendall Applegate will play daughter Penny. They are the children of Tom and Lynette Scavo [Doug Savant and Felicity Huffman].
Rumours about other casting changes due to the leap forward in time are also circulating with much speculation as to how things will have changed for the various characters in the ‘missing five years’ between season four and season five.

A few more familiar faces have been cast in the BBC‘s upcoming drama series, Hope Springs. Comedian and actress Ronni Ancona, best known for her various roles in The Big Impression, has been cast in the show as has Sian Reeves who is known for her roles in Cutting It and Northern Lights. They will join Alex Kingston and Annette Crosbie who have already been cast in the drama. Other new castings include Paul Huggins, Vinette Robinson, Alec Newman and Lorraine McIntosh.
Hope Springs follows the lives of four women after they are released from prison and try to start a new life for themselves but end up in a remote Scottish village instead of Barbados. Sian Reeves will play Hannah in the series while Vinette Robinson will play Josie. Ronni Ancona, who has proved her acting skills through roles in Holby City, Gideon’s Daughter and Miss Marple, will play the four women’s nemisis, Annie Marie.
The series will air on BBC1 early next year and is from the team behind Bad Girls, Waterloo Road and Rock Rivals – Shed Media. The series will be written by Liz Lake, Ann McManus and Maureen Chadwick and will be produced by Brian Park and Anne Mensah.
