More celebrity documentaries for Five

Five has ordered three fast turnaround documentaries as part of Dawn Airey’s plan to make sure all prime-time shows on the broadcaster pull in at least one million viewers.

The three new documentaries will all be looking at ITV presenters or shows.

Five has commissioned three new documentaries as part of Dawn Airey’s plan to make sure all prime-time programmes on the show pull in at least one million viewers.

The fast turnaround documentaries will follow in the footsteps of Five’s recent Russell and Ross: What the F*** Was That All About? which rated well for the channel with a million viewers.

As part of Airey’s plan to attract at least a million viewers in prime-time Five will try to appeal to the tabloid readers and become more “noisy”. The three documentaries it has commissioned are more than likely to appeal solely to the tabloid readership.

The first of these new documentaries, all of which have been commissioned by Steve Gowans, will be about ITV’s popular reality television show I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here!. The series is currently enjoying strong ratings on ITV1 and Five’s documentary will try to cash in on that success. The documentary will be entitled I’m A Celebrity: Who Really Won? and will feature interviews with former contestants and behind the scenes crew. The documentary is due to air on November 26th in a 10pm slot.

The second documentary will take a look at the careers of I’m A Celeb presenters, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. The documentary will chart the start of their television career in Byker Grove, the legendary children’s television series, to popstars and then successful presenters. Ant & Dec: Where Did it All Go Right? is due to air on December 3rd.

The final documentary will focus on Cheryl Cole and her career with pop group Girls Aloud and her growing career outside the group on shows such as The X-Factor. The documentary, The Cheryl Cole Factor, will air just before The X Factor finale in December.
