The BBC has commissioned a third series of Jennifer Saunders’ comedy series Jam and Jerusalem. The comedy is set in Devon and about a villages’ WI group and the various events the group have to hold or attempt to hold. The BBC has commissioned six new episodes of the comedy series and Jennifer Saunders is currently working on the scripts for the new series.
The series stars Sue Johnston, Maggie Steed, Pauline McLynn, Sally Phillips, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders herself. Filming will be begin in April on the new series with filming being split between Pinewood Studios and location filming in Devon. The series will also air on BBC One sometime next year as well. It’s expected the majority of the cast will reprise their roles for the new series.
Jam and Jerusalem launched in November 2006 with good ratings but the series hasn’t been able to maintain its strong start and ratings for the second season fell to an average of three million. However, the series has won a loyal fan base and the BBC have shown faith in the series by re-commissioning it.
