No refunds for Strictly voters
The BBC has confirmed that viewers for who voted in Strictly Come Dancing’s semi-final will not be given a refund after no contestants were evicted from the dancing competition due to a three-way tie, instead the votes are likely to be added next week’s votes instead.
The Strictly Come Dancing semi-final last night saw none of the three dancing pairs voted off the competition due to a tie in the voting. Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens, and their dancing partners, were given top points by the judges for their performance but this meant that actor Tom Chambers couldn’t be saved from a dance-off to decide who would leave the competition. So instead all three dancing couples were put through to the final, which airs next week.
However, as there was no dance-off between the couples Strictly Come Dancing ended 10 minutes earlier than was scheduled which forced BBC One to air trailers for those remaining ten minutes. The situation regarding the tie between the three dancing pairs was not explained to the viewers leading to over 100 complaints from viewers. The BBC has now announced that no refunds will be given on last night’s voting, instead they will be added to votes cast next week. A BBC spokesperson said “No vote has been disregarded in fact, quite the opposite”
Three couples will not participate in the final next week as was originally planned at the start of the competition. However, those plans were original scrapped following Jon Sergeant’s decision to leave the series following constant criticisms by the judges but the public continually voting for him, resulting in better dancers being voted off the series.
