Passage To India remake axed by ITV
ITV has decided to pull its plug on its proposed adaptation of A Passage to India, a novel by EM Foster due to financial reasons.
Media Guardian reports that ITV have decided to pull the plug on its planned adaptation of the EM Foster novel, A Passage to India. The commercial broadcaster were planning a new version of the classic novel, following the film version in 1984. Preproduction work has already started on the adaptation with trips to India amongst the work, costing thousands for the commercial broadcaster. Several actors have also already been signed up the adaptation amongst them Matthew MacFadyen, Sally Hawkins, Laurence Fox and Gemma Jones however. The broadcaster confirmed to Media Guardian it scrapped the adaptation due to financial costs even though it has already spent a considerable amount on securing the rights, outbidding the BBC, and on pre-production work.
