Trek’s first lady passes away
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, often described as the First Lady of Star Trek, passed away on the 18th of December. The actress, who was married to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, was involved in Star Trek in all of its forms.
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry has passed away at the age of 76, the actress died on December 18th. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry is often described as the First Lady of Star Trek having been involved in Star Trek in all of its carnations. She was married to its creator Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991, and was an actress in the original series. In the original Star Trek the actress played Nurse Chappell, a role she continued to play in several of the spin-off films

In The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine Majel Barrett-Roddenberry played the recurring character of Lwaxana Troi as well as voicing the computer in both shows. As voice of the Starfleet computer Majel Barrett-Roddenberry also worked on Voyager and Enterprise as well as the Next Generation based films. It wasn’t just the television and film franchises that Majel Barrett-Roddenberry worked on in relation to Star Trek, also providing her voice for characters in computer games as well as the animated series produced after the original Star Trek was cancelled.
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was the only actor to have worked on every version of Star Trek, even lending her voice to the upcoming Star Trek movie. She was also a regular at various conventions around the world.
Outside of Star Trek Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was responsible for bringing two shows to television based on ideas that Gene Roddenberry had written but hadn’t managed to develop. Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda were both shows that Majel Barrett-Roddenberry helped bring to screen and was involved with as Executive Producers; the actress also had a role in Earth: Final Conflict. The actress also guest-starred in an episode of Babylon 5, the sci fi series often seen as a rival to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. There was even a rivalry between fans of the two series due to alleged similarities between the formats of the two shows and Babylon 5 fans feeling Star Trek had copied its ideas. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry and several other Star Trek actors, such as original series actor Walter Koenig, were asked to appear in Babylon 5 to defuse the tension between the fans.
