More Survivors for BBC One

 

SurvivorsBBC One has commissioned a second series of Survivors, Adrian Hodges reimaged series based on the Terry Nation created 1970s series.

Actress Zoe TapperThe reimaged Survivors has been given a second season by the BBC. The series, reimaged by Adrian Hodge, premiered well with over six million viewers and although ratings have dropped since the opening episode recent episodes have seen ratings rise once more. The penultimate episode of the series was ratings climb back up to five million viewers; the final episode is due to air next week.

The reimaged version is based on the novelisation, by Terry Nation, of the first season of the original 1970s series of Survivors. The post-apocalyptic series deals with a band of survivors following a plague that wipes out most of the world’s population. While Terry Nation created and wrote the first series of the 1970s series he departed the drama because of differences with the producer but did write a novelisation of the first season. The BBC acquired the television rights to that novelisation earlier this year.

Actress Julie GrahamThe modern version of Survivors stars Julie Graham, Max Beesley and Phillip Rhys, who are all set to return according to the BBC. The second season will once again be made up of six episodes and Hodge is expected to return to helm the series. Survivors was re-commissioned by Jay Hunt, controller of BBC One, and Ben Stephenson, controller of drama.
