Jackie Woodburne has no plans to quit Neighbours saga
A long serving Neighbours actress suggests she’s happy to stay in Ramsay Street for many years to come.
It is quite fair to say that Neighbours has had a bit of a rocky time in recent years. Revamps and cast departures have seen the show change quite radically from the warm and cosy show we once knew.
Still, despite the turbulence, the show still commands a loyal fan base in the UK and Five will resume transmission of episodes from January 5th 2009. Which will be good news for Jackie Woodburne – who playes Susan in the serial – as she seems to love the show.
And the fans equally love her. It wasn’t so long ago viewers of the serial picked Susan Kinski as their all-time favourite character. She follows a long line of strong females in the show; the original being matriarch of the series the late Anne Haddy – who played everyone’s favourite neighbour, Helen Daniels.
Virgin Media report that the actress – who has been with Neighbours for nearly fifteen years – told reporters when probed whether she was saying goodbye to Ramsay Street:
“Not unless you know something you don’t… …I have no plans to move on, it’s a lovely job and I do enjoy working with the people there… I don’t think you could sustain enthusiasm for a character or a show for as long as I’ve been working on it if you didn’t genuinely love it. It’s such a big part of my life… The cast are lovely, and the crew are just as much if not more important because they’re constant, whereas the actors come and go. We spend an awful lot of time together, so you gotta love em!”
Neighbours was of course just a long line of Reg Watson produced serial successes. Others include The Young Doctors, Sons and Daughters and Crossroads.
