Barrett-Roddenberry in new Star Trek Movie

 

ATV CultMajel Barrett-Roddenberry, wife of late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, will have a role in the forthcoming new Star Trek movie according to Variety.

 

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry will once again voice the computer of the Starship Enterprise in the forthcoming new Star Trek movie, by J.J Abrams. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was the wife of Star Trek ATV Cultcreator Gene Roddenberry, who passed away in 1991. Barrett-Roddenberry was the voice of the computer in all of the various Star Trek television series’ and several of the spin-off movies, she is the only person to have been involved in all of the television versions of Star Trek. As well as voicing the ships computers she also had a recurring role in the original series of Star Trek as Nurse Chappell, also appearing in several of the spin-off films in the same role. In Star Trek: Next Generation and Deep Space Nine she had the recurring role of Lwaxana Troi. Outside of the Star Trek world she’s had roles in Babylon 5 and Earth: Final Conflict, for which she was also an executive producer.

 

 

The forthcoming Star Trek movie will reboot the franchise as it concentrates on the early days of the original Star Trek characters. It was originally intended to open on Christmas Day but has been pushed back until May 2009 due to tough competition at Christmas.
