American broadcaster Showtime is developing a factual series that will follow individuals as they come out to their friends and family.
Showtime is developing a new factual series that will follow the lives of people as they reveal their sexuality to their friends and family. The series hasn’t formally been commissioned yet with the broadcast merely ordering a pilot presentation but if it was to go to a full series it could be potentially controversial for Showtime. The series is being developed by Bryn Freedman who was responsible for Intervention on A&E.
The proposed series is provisionally titled “Way Out” and would chart how relationships between the outed person and their friends and family change following the revelation. The series is one of several under development by Showtime as it tries to boost its factual output.
