Sachs confirmed for Corrie

Manchester SoapVeteran actor Andrew Sachs will be appearing in ITV’s flagship soap, Coronation Street.

CorrieAfter much speculation it has been confirmed that Andrew Sachs will be joining the cast of Coronation Street. The veteran actor revealed late last year he had been approached to appear in the ITV1 soap as the brother of Norris Cole [Malcolm Hebden] but will producers of the soap have confirmed Sachs’ casting they haven’t revealed who he will be playing.

Over the Christmas period the actor guest-starred in an episode of Casualty and will reportedly appear on C4’s popular daytime quizshow, Countdown, in the dictionary corner. The actor is probably still Casualtybest known, and remembered, for his role of Manuel in the classic BBC sitcom Fawlty Towers. The actor was also the subject of prank phone-calls from Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross, on Brand’s BBC Radio 2 show, concerning Brand’s relationship with Sachs’ grand-daughter Georgina Ballie. These prank phone-calls sparked public outrage after they were reported on in The Sunday Mail and led to Ross being suspended from the BBC and Brand quitting the corporation. The controller of BBC Radio 2, Lesley Douglas, also resigned in the wake of the public outcry.
