Four New Characters For Soap
New characters are lined up for EastEnders and Hollyoaks in early 2009.
As new year dawns in Hollyoaks, it’s time for some new faces as blonde bombshells Melissa Walton and Bronagh Waugh breeze into the village – characters Loretta and Cheryl – causing a few jaws to drop.
Both characters were first seen in Hollyoaks Later , broadcast in November on E4, but will be joining the main show as regulars under new producer, Lucy Allan.
Hollyoaks Producer, Lucy Allan said, “Cheryl and Loretta will bring an energy and a sense of fun to the show. Both Melissa and Bronagh impressed me with their performances in Hollyoaks Later and I’m sure viewers will warm to them quickly. There will be more new faces arriving in Hollyoaks shortly so viewers should watch this space! There’s an exciting year ahead in Hollyoaks.”
Loretta’s first scenes will be seen on Friday February 6th while Cheryl will be seen on screen in May.
Meanwhile over at EastEnders two new faces are arriving in Albert Square. The first arrival is Rolan Bell, who plays the mysterious Theo. Its believed that the character will have links to Patrick, played by Rudolph Walker.
The second new comer is well-known comedian Josie Lawrence who is no stranger to radio and television. Her longest running television character was that of Maggie in ITV sitcom, Outside Edge during the 1990s. As herself she was a regular panelist on Channel 4’s Who’s Line Is It Anyway?
In EastEnders Lawrence will play Amanda who is being lined up as a possible new love for Phil, played by Steve McFadden.
Theo will be first seen in the soap from the end of January, while Amanda will step into Albert Square in mid-springtime.
