Britain’s Got Talent axes Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook has been axed as a fourth judge on the hit ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent just days after joining the series.

Last week it was announced that Kelly Brook would join the judge’s panel on the hit ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent as a fourth judge but just a week later it’s been announced that the model and actress has now been dropped from the show. Kelly Brook joined the panel alongside established judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden but producers felt adding a fourth judge complicated things too much. After producers reviewed footage of auditions in Manchester they reportedly felt the presence of a fourth judge on the show complicated things.

“I have genuinely enjoyed working with Kelly, she is absolutely lovely and a complete professional. But it’s become clear the format doesn’t support another judge and we will never add a fourth judge to the panel.” – Simon Cowell in a statement.

The move to add a fourth judge to the panel on Britain’s Got Talent was similar to the addition of Danni Minogue to the panel of The X-Factor judges two years ago. Although Danni Minogue’s presence on the panel reportedly caused arguments behind-the-scenes the addition of a fourth judge on The X-Factor didn’t complicated things for that talent contest and four judges still remain on the panel.

“The format of the show is cleaner and less complicated with just three judges, which was not fully appreciated ahead of filming. Although Kelly brings a huge amount of warmth to the show and we’ve loved having her on board, the complications it adds to the filming process and format of the show means that unfortunately, and with huge regret, we have agreed with ITV not to proceed with a fourth judge.” Spokesperson for Talkback Thames, production company.

Kelly Brook started off her television career in 1999 when she became a presenter on the Channel Four’s The Big Breakfast but remained with the show for just six months. Following on from this she appeared in the doomed ITV reality series Celebrity Love Island and also turned her hand towards acting appearing in Smallville and other US shows. Brook was also a contestant on BBC One’s dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing.
