Sky WON’T show Gaza Appeal

Sky NewsThe Sky News Channel will join the BBC in refusing to show the Gaza Charity Appeal as political pressure amounts on the BBC to change their minds.

Sky NewsSky has announced that its News Channel will not air the Gaza appeal video, due to concerns over impartiality. Sky joins the BBC in refusing to broadcast the video but ITV, Four and Five have all announced they will broadcast the video. Initially all broadcasters announced they would not air the appeal but after further discussions ITV, Five and Four decided they would in fact air the appeal.

BBCAs pressure mounted on the BBC over the weekend to reverse their decision and back down Sky continued to debate its position. Veteran politician Tony Benn lead a protest over the BBC’s decision outside Broadcasting House, in London, on Saturday and predicted the corporation would back down by that evening – which they didn’t. Benn accused the BBC of bowing down to Isreali pressure, accusations repeated by several politicians, but the BBC has denied this.
