K-9 to feature more in Sarah Jane Adventures

The Sarah Jane AdventuresFirm fan favourite K-9 is to appear more frequently in the Doctor Who spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The Sarah Jane AdventuresThe next series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, its third season, will feature K-9 in at least half of the seasons’ episodes. So far the robotic dog has only appeared briefly in the series and was last seen, briefly, in the season four finale of Doctor Who. However, all that is about to change as the character will feature more in the spin-off series.

“We’ve already got ten scripts at first draft stage, and I can now announce that K-9 is going to make a return to Sarah Jane’s attic. He’s been locked away in that safe, saving the world from a Black Hole, for far too long now.” Producer Nikki Smith in an interview with the Doctor Who Magazine.

K-9 is a firm favourite amongst fans and made his first appearance in Doctor Who in 1977 during Tom Bakers tenure as the Doctor. Although originally intended to be a one-off companion the production crew decided to make him a permanent fixture and the robotic dog was companion alongside Leela [Louise Jameson], Romana [Mary Tamm] and the 2nd Romana [Lalla Ward]. The robotic dog meet Sarah Jane Smith in the on-off 1980 special, K-9 and Company.
