Award Winning actor joins EastEnders
Multi-award winning actor Edward Woodward is to join the cast of BBC One soap EastEnders.
Multi-award winning actor Edward Woodward has landed a role in BBC One soap EastEnders. The 78 year old actor, who has won Golden Globe and Bafta awards, will play Tommy Clifford in EastEnders. The character will arrive in Albert Square looking for Patrick Trueman [Rudolph Walker]. Tommy is very keen to befriend Patrick and has already sent someone ahead of him, Theo Kelly [Rolan Bell] to test the waters with Patrick – but just what are his motives for getting to know Patrick?
Edward Woodward is probably best remembered for his roles in films such as The Wicker Man, Who Dares Wins and more recently Hot Fuzz. On television he is probably known for his role in the 1970s series Callan as well as the 1980s series The Equalizer. Other roles more recently include gritty BBC murder drama Messiah, critically acclaimed Five Days and The Bill.
Woodward has already begun filming with the soap and will first appear on-screen in March. He’s expected to remain with the soap for several weeks.
