Concerns for Callard

ITV Granada‘Friends’ of Coronation Street favourite Bev Callard have expressed their concern to The Sun newspaper about her wellbeing. The publication suggests that associates of the ‘normally bubbly actress’, who has played Liz MacDonald in the show on-and-off since 1989, have said they are worried about her because she’s been absent from the Granada studios for over a week.

One friend told The Sun: “We have no idea when she’ll be back. She is talking to very few people at the moment and we’re obviously desperate to know she is ok.”

The 51-year-old actress recently spoke about her financial downfall after losing her own business, The Gallery pub in Hale Barnes. “The pub was a black hole which took all our cash and all our time. We couldn’t cope any more.” She told the newspaper two months ago.

With her partner Jon McEwan over £250,000 was invested in the boozer venture, however Bev called time on the bar when the brewery sent a final demand for almost £60,000 of unpaid rent.

The Gallery was also the workplace of former Coronation Street actor Nick Cochrane who played Bev’s on-screen son Andy. He had been hired to run the restaurant.
