Westbrook to return to Enders?

A tabloid report claims that original Sam Mitchell actress Daniella Westbrook may return to EastEnders to reprise the role.

According to an article in The Sun original Sam Mitchell actress Daniella Westbrook may return to the BBC One soap to reprise the role even though it was recast by bosses in 2002 and Kim Medcalf took over. Daniella Westbrook originally played Sam Mitchell between 1990 and 1993 but left due to press interest in her private life. However, the actress was tempted back in 1995 but left just a year later. In 1999 Westbrook reprised the role for a third and final time before once again leaving the soap in 2000.

In 2002 EastEnders bosses recast the role and Kim Medcalf took on the role and stayed with the soap until she quit in 2005. Sam Mitchell left the square not long after the murder of Den Watts to which she, and Zoe Slater [Michelle Ryan] were an accessory to. According to The Sun producers are hoping to tempt the actress back because of her on-screen chemistry with co-star Sid Owen who plays Ricky Butcher, who was briefly married to Sam Mitchell in the 90’s.
