Comeback for Birds of a Feather?

Linda Robson in CrossroadsA report in tabloid newspaper The Mirror claims 90’s BBC comedy series Birds of a Feather could be revived by the corporation.

BBC The Mirror claims that the BBC is hoping to revive its classic 90’s comedy Birds of a Feather. An article in the tabloid newspaper claims that original stars Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph have all been asked to reprise their roles by producers.

“People remember Birds Of A Feather so fondly because it didn’t tail off at the end, the standard of the scripts didn’t deteriorate,” said the actress. “We’d be keen to maintain that standard. None of us would want to make a new series that was below standard. I’d rather stay at home doing the housework.” Pauline Quirke quoted in The Mirror

Birds of a Feather ran for nine seasons between 1989 and 1998 and clocked up over 102 episodes LWT soap Night and Dayduring its run. It made stars out of all three leading ladies and Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson even went on to advertise washing powder Surf as their “feather” characters. Since the series ended all three actress’ continued acting. Pauline Quirke went on to star in Down to Earth, Office Gossip, Being April, The Bill, Cold Blood and will shortly be seen in new BBC One drama Missing. Linda Robson guest starred in several episodes of the short-lived 2003 version of Crossroads and also appeared in several episodes of The Bill while Lesley Joseph starred in short-lived LWT soap Night and Day.
