Fifth year for Waterloo Road

BBC drama series Waterloo Road has been re-commissioned for a further twenty-part series.

The BBC has ordered another series of school drama Waterloo Road from producers Shed Media. The drama series is currently in the middle of its fourth series on BBC One, airing on Wednesday nights, and is sliding somewhat in the ratings. The drama has gone up against The Bill on ITV1 and often the ITV series wins the battle of the drama’s however, Waterloo Road is still pulling in, on average, over four million per episode. Later this year The Bill will lose an episode a week and fall back to a 9pm slot, removing the competition for Waterloo Road.

The fifth season of Waterloo Road will run to twenty episodes and will likely air on BBC One early next year. As yet there have been no details on which cast members are expected to return for the fifth year.
