Trek writer sues

ParamountStar Trek writer Harlan Ellison is suing CBS Paramount over its alleged failure to pay him for exploitations of his Trek episode City on the Edge of Forever.

Harlan Ellison is suing CBS Paramount for allegedly failing to pay him for merchandise, publishing and Paramountother exploitations of his Star Trek episode City on the Edge of Forever. The episode was part of the original series of Star Trek that ran between 1966 and 1969 and is one of the more popular episodes amongst fans of the series. It guest-starred Joan Collins as a social worker who encounters, and falls in love with, Captain Kirk when he and Spock travel back to 1930’s America to prevent a change in the time-line possibly caused by Doctor McCoy.

Ellison filed the action agaisnt CBS Paramount last Friday in the Federal Court in Los Angeles but the writer is also suing the Writers Guild of America as he alleges they have failed to act on his behalf. CBS Paramount or the Writers Guild of America has yet responded to the law suit.
