TV File Extra!

Talkback ThamesAs an extra special treat we’re giving you two helpings of TV File in one week. In this extra special file Fiona Phillips once again proves just how grateful she is for any exposure on television [yes we’re being sarcastic] while James Corden is savaged by the critics who have been circling round for some time like sharks waiting for the chance to bite.

Phillips: Apprentice was Hideous

Once again Fiona Phillips, former occupier of the GMTV sofa, has used her column in The Mirror to One of Fiona's faces - Talkback Thames Productionstell her readers, those who don’t just flick straight past the page, just how awful her latest appearance on television was. You’d think she would be grateful for any television exposure right now but nope according to Phillips the charity version of The Apprentice, which she was one of the contestants, was “hideous”. Considering the whole event was for charity, Comic Relief, you’d think she would just grin and put up with it!

“It was like being back at school again – all that hideous politics of the playground stuff. Believe me, what you saw wasn’t the half of it. I can honestly say it was the worst professional experience of my life, and I don’t mean the task or the long hours.” – Fiona in her Mirror column

Another Fiona Face - Talkback ThamesWorst professional experience of her life……we’re saying nothing. All we will say is Fiona also made comments, via her Mirror column, about her stint in Strictly Come Dancing and they were along similar lines – how awful it all was ect ect.

Gavin and Stacey - BBCThird Time the end for Gavin and Stacey

James Corden, whose ego is almost as big as he is, has confirmed that the third series of BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey will be the last. Corden writes the series with co-star Ruth Jones and the pair have decided to bring the series to an end after the third season. Fans hoping for future Christmas Specials will be disappointed as Corden says there are also no plans for any future specials.

Critics Savage Corden

Sticking with the Corden theme because while ratings may have been good for James Corden and Matthew Horne’s new sketch show on BBC Three the critical reviews weren’t. The critics must have been dying to let rip because that’s exactly what they did and they had more opportunity this week with the premier of the duo’s new film Lesbian Vampire Killers. Unsurprisingly the critics weren’t on the kind side towards the film.

Just in case you were wondering the Lesbians in the film are the vampires not the vampire killers. Not that that makes it any more watchable.

Hit for ITV at Last?

It looks at long last that ITV may have finally found a drama hit – well actually another one. Yes the Law and Orderlast three drama’s shown in the 9pm Monday slot on ITV1 have performed very well for the channel and been well received by critics. We’re still waiting to hear the news that Whitechapel, Jack the Ripper copycat drama, will be given a second run on ITV – obviously with a different subject matter. Anyway their latest hit is British remake of Law and Order which is holding a steady audience in its slot and not just that – it’s rather good. If only ITV sort out the rest of their lame drama output.

BBC Wins back Boat Race

Any sports fans out there may be delighted to hear the BBC have won back the television rights to the Oxford/Cambridge boat race. ITV have aired the race for the past several years after the BBC decided to drop coverage. However, ITV then followed suit in December as it probably couldn’t afford them anymore and would rather pay out silly amounts to Ant and Dec

Fiona occupying her GMTV SofaQuote of the Week

“I can honestly say it was the worst professional experience of my life” – Fiona Phillips

There are so many witty, or not so witty, comebacks to that line but we shall resist temptation and merely quote it one more time because it makes us laugh so.
