Wadia charmed by Enders newcomer

EastEnders star Nina Wadia told TV Biz that actor Marc Elliot who has signed up play her son Syed in the show has been dishing out the compliments during filming at the studios in Borehamwood.
Wadia, 41, commented that playing an older character has its advantages because people always say how youthful she looks off set.

“Marc makes me laugh so much on set. He keeps saying, ‘You’re playing my mother, how old were you when you had me?’ It makes my day. Zainab’s older than myself and in some way it’s a bit disheartening because I never got to play anyone in their 30s. But the really good thing is that when people see me in the street they always say, ‘Gosh you look so much younger than on screen. What do they do to me on the show?!” she said.

Commenting on possible loves for newcomer Syed she said “Zainab will never approve of any of the women in the Square trying to become romantically involved with Syed. No one would ever be good enough for himin her eyes. It’ll be a bit of a challenge for him to get settled down when he’s there. I don’t think Syed would want to bring any girlfriend home to meet his parents though!”

Wadia joined EastEnders in 2007 along with Nitin Ganatra, Himesh Patel and Zahra Ahmadi who play on screen husband Masood, son Tamwar and daughter Shabnam.
