Aussie Ladette Series for ITV1

ITVITV1 has bought the UK rights to the Australian version of reality television series Ladette to Lady even though it cancelled the British version last year due to disappointing ratings.

In something of a turn around ITV1 has acquired the rights to the Australian version of reality television series Ladette to Lady. The series takes a bunch of “ladette” women and attempts to turn them into society ladies through old fashioned methods – such as sending them to a finishing school where they learn the skills of flower arranging, cooking and elocution. A British version of the series ran on ITV1 for three years attracting modest ratings for the channel. However, at the conclusion of last year’s series it was cancelled by ITV due to declining ratings.

The Australian version will air on ITV1 later this spring and closely follows the format of its British counter-part. The show was widely criticised in Australia for the wild antics of its contestants – something the British series was also criticised for.
