BBC One has reportedly axed its legal drama series Judge John Deed according to series star Martin Shaw.
BBC One has reportedly axed its legal drama series Judge John Deed – so it’s star Martin Shaw says. Shaw commented on the shows demise while talking about his other BBC drama series George Gently which returns for its second season next week. Shaw was asked whether he preferred the cop drama series or his court-room drama and Shaw remarked the BBC had cancelled Judge John Deed. It’s not the first series starring Martin Shaw, on the BBC, which the corporation has cancelled lately with his supernatural exorcist series Apparitions also being dropped after just one series.
Judge John Deed regularly attracted audiences of over five million and ran for six seasons between 2001 and 2007. After the conclusion of its sixth season in 2007 the drama was expected to return for further episodes but with a revamped format which may have included multi-part stories. The court-room drama series sparked controversy for an episode which liked the MMR vaccine and autism.
