Dawn French to star in marriage sitcom
Dawn French will star in a new BBC Two comedy series about married life.
Dawn French is to star in a new BBC Two comedy series about married life. The actress will star in Roger & Val Have Just Got In, a two-hander written by Emma and Beth Kilcoyne. The series will run for six thirty minute episodes and will be produced by Hugo Blick who co-wrote and produced the cult comedy Marion and Geoff. The comedy series will follow the husband and wife over the course of several evenings as they discuss their days at work and get on with the dull routines of domestic life. The role of the husband, Roger, has yet to be cast and the BBC are currently looking for suitable candidates.
The role is the first leading role from Dawn French in a comedy series since The Vicar of Dibley ended several years ago although the actress is one of the cast members in Jennifer Saunders’ comedy series Jam and Jerusalem. More recently French turned her hand at “straight” acting with a role in BBC One period drama Lark Rise to Candleford which is due to return later this year for its third season.
