Clarke Peters has joined the cast of Holby City to play Donna Jackson’s father in a compelling storyline. From 14th July onwards, Clarke stars as Derek Newman in a storyline that sees him admitted to the hospital with a serious medical condition. He discovers he has cancer of the splenic flexure, pancreas and abdominal wall. Not good news, but operable. Ric Griffin faces the challenge of saving Derek’s life.

Diana Kyle, Holby City series producer says:

“Clarke has an amazing body of work from West End Theatre to The Wire and we were delighted when he agreed to come and join the team at Holby. His time spent playing Donna’s father has been an absolute joy for all of us.”

Clarke Peters says:

“The Holby experience was an eye opener for me as to how professional everyone working in that factory of entertainment must be. My directors, particularly Rob Evans, created an environment that was comfortable and supportive for any guest artist to thrive in. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Holby and have fallen in love with my daughter, Jaye, all over again. I will miss playing with Hugh Quarshie, Hari Dhillon and Phoebe Thomas. Holby’s probably the only hospital I’d enjoy revisiting.”

Clarke will star in Holby City as Derek Newman until 11th August. Holby City airs on BBC ONE, every Tuesday at 8pm. Peter Clarke is probably best known for his roles in Notting Hill and The Wire.
