Heartbeat actor Joe McFadden has joined the cast of BBC One medical-drama Casualty.

Heartbeat actor Joe McFadden has joined the cast of BBC One medical-drama Casualty. The actor plays 60’s copper Joe Mason in the ITV1 drama series. However, as everyone will know ITV recently cancelled the Yorkshire based drama, and its spin-off The Royal, due to declining ratings. Filming for the final episodes of the series recently began on location with on-lookers telling tabloids the cast were visible upset to be filming the conclusion of the long-running drama.

The actor will play the role of mysterious Alistair in the BBC One drama. His character will quickly befriend paramedic Polly [Shopia di Martino]. The actor discussed his new role while appearing on the Channel Four chat-show Paul O’Grady Show.

Filming for season 24 of Casualty is all ready underway with transmission starting this Autumn.
