The People reports that EastEnders actor Perry Fenwick is to be axed from the show after 12 years playing loser-in-love and pretty much everything else in life, Billy Mitchell.
Perry, 47, first joined the hit BBC soap in 1998 starring in a few episodes in November of that year. He later reappeared in the soap in August 1999 and has been a regular fixture ever since.
The star has reportedly been told that show writers feel there is nowhere else for his character to go so he will bow out later this year in an explosive storyline.
An EastEnders source explained
“Perry’s character is very dreary and not really what EastEnders want for the future. He is always very down on his luck and since he split with Honey he isn’t part of a big family on the show.
He is a bit of a loner and the producers feel that there is no way that he can continue.”
Show bosses were also reportedly unimpressed with Perry when he spoke out over his concerns about the axing of Emma Barton who played his on-screen wife Honey in the show.
Update: This afternoon, show bosses denied the axing of Perry Fenwick from EastEnders.
