Knight Rider Axed

NBC NBC’s update of the classic 1980’s series Knight Rider will not renew for a second season after the broadcaster decides to pull the plug on the struggling series.

NBC has pulled the plugging on its struggling series, Knight Rider – an updated version of the classic NBC1980s series. The axe comes after disappointing ratings and several revamps just across its first season to boost ratings. NBC revived Knight Rider in 2007 with a successful pilot episode which rated well enough for a weekly series to follow. However, when the weekly series returned in 2008 it was different from the pilot episode following creative changes. The changes didn’t prove popular with fans and a revamp was ordered quickly followed by another. As the ratings continued to slide NBC decided to cut back on the number of episodes it ordered, dropping five from the first season.

So it’s hardly surprising that it’s now been confirmed the axe has fallen on the series. A similar fate met another revived series from the 1980s, the Bionic Woman. The revived Bionic Woman starred British actress Michelle Ryan and while its pilot rated well the following weekly series couldn’t continue the success and it was dropped by NBC shortly after.
