Gray O’Brien to stay longer in Corrie

Actor Gray O’Brien will be treading the cobbles of Weatherfield for longer than expected as he extends his contact with the ITV soap to play villainous and panto factory owner Tony Gordon.

The villainous and panto factory owner Tony Gordon will be sticking around in Weatherfield for a little bit longer than originally planned as actor Gray O’Brien extends his contract with the ITV soap. The character was due to be written out of the soap towards the end of this year when doubtless the murdering knicker-factory-owning-panto character got his comeuppance but now bosses have decided to extend his reign of evil for even longer.

Gray O’Brien was due to exit Coronation Street later this year so he could swap one panto character for another, playing the evil Abanazar in Aladdin at a pantomime in Manchester. The actor has now agreed to extend his contract with the soap and return for another stint as Tony Gordon.

“So theatre-goers will get to see him being even more villainous in panto than he is in Corrie, if that’s possible!” – Coronation Street spokesperson.

Well surely Coronation Street is just one big pantomime full of stereotypical characters and OTT characters?
