No return for Mutual Friends

BBCBBC One has axed comedy drama series Mutual Friends due to disappointing ratings.

BBC One comedy drama series Mutual Friends won’t be back for a second series as the corporation has decided not to renew the series due to disappointing ratings. The series was hyped as the 21st bbccentury answer to Cold Feet and there were hopes it would run for a long time but ratings for the series were lower than hoped. Mutual Friends starred Marc Warren, Keeley Hawes, Alexander Armstrong, Sarah Alexander and Claire Rushbrook. Across its six-part run the series averaged just 3.5 million viewers against the slot average of 5 million so the decision not to renew the series is hardly surprising. The comedy was originally commissioned by Peter Fincham before he was forced to resign in the wake of the “Queens-gate” scandal.
