Corrie resurrects McDonald duo
Former Coronation Street stars Charles Lawson and Nicholas Cochrane, Jim and Andy McDonald in the ITV soap, are set to return to the soap later this year it has been announced.
The pair are expected to reprise their roles later this month in a plot which will see Steve (Simon Gregson) finally tie the knot with his tempestuous girlfriend Becky (Katherine Kelly).
“Lloyd plays quite a major part in Steve’s next wedding when Jim makes a reappearance. The thing that Jim gets embroiled in isn’t what you’d expect, though.” – Producer Kim Crowther, quoted on Digital Spy.
The father and son duo used to be regular fixtures on the street making their first appearance in October 1989. Nicholas Cochrane stayed with the soap until 1996, after which he has made a number of guest appearances the last being in 2004. Charles Lawson, meanwhile, left the show in 2000 but has also returned for a succession of guest appearances the last of which was in 2008.
