Tank Load Of More Comedy From Aunty Beeb
As we reported earlier in the week the BBC is boosting its comedy output from Scotland, and today they announced further programming from the same studios. Three comedy pilots – Burnistoun, Limmy’s Show and Gary: Tank Commander – are to be made into three six-part series later this year.
Ewan Angus, Executive Producer for BBC Scotland, said: “This is exciting to be supporting and developing comedy talent from the different worlds of television, internet and stand-up for our audiences in Scotland.”
Burnistoun, written and performed by Robert Florence and Iain Connell, features hilarious sketches based around the residents of a fictional yet strangely familiar Scottish town named Burnistoun.
Scottish internet sensation Limmy stars in Limmy’s Show – an exciting new comedy series that combines character pieces, visuals and sketches.
Gary: Tank Commander is a brand new sitcom featuring Scottish BAFTA-winning writer-performer and stand-up Greg McHugh as Gary McLintoch, a soldier who returns home from Iraq to the barracks and offers unique insights into both worlds.
The three series will be produced by The Comedy Unit, part of the RDF Media Group. Comedy Unit Creative Director Colin Gilbert says: “The Comedy Unit’s work with BBC Scotland has produced some of Scotland‘s best-loved comedies and we’re confident that these three very different series featuring the next generation of Scottish comedy talent will continue to make Scotland laugh.”
