Hollyoaks Launch New Online Spin-off
Temperatures are set to rise in Hollyoaks this summer as some of the show’s central characters find themselves away from the Village and out of their depths.
In a first of it’s kind online drama spin off, Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before will enable viewers to follow the off screen exploits of series regulars Josh and Sasha as they leave the Channel 4 series for a four week ‘post exam’ blow out in Manchester.
After meeting Dave (Elliott James Langridge) Josh is convinced that he needs a summer of fun away from the constraints of the Village and following her recent trauma, Sasha doesn’t need much convincing to join them. With hedonism in their sights the pair head to Manchester, but soon learn that everything comes with a price.
Renowned for its ability to tackle hard hitting topical issues, Channel 4’s flagship teen drama is set to take its viewers to another level as it once again embraces the age of cross platform media in a bid to create awareness of the consequences of the ever growing phenomenon of binge drinking.
Made up of twelve, three to four minute episodes, published on E4.com at 7.00pm, the series will support the Home Office’s ‘Know Your Limits’ safe drinking campaign and will highlight to viewers the dangers of excessive drinking.
Viewers will also be able to keep up with Josh, Sash and Dave’s adventures via Bebo, as the trio update their own pages, posting regular blogs throughout the series.
“I was really pleased when the producers asked me to take part in Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before. Hollyoaks has got a great history of tackling contemporary issues in a responsible way, and it’s important for young people to be aware of the dangers of binge drinking. As the episodes are uniquely being shown online, we are sure to reach our audience.” – Natalie Emmanuel
