Light fans unhappy over shortened tribute

CBSFans of the soon-to-end American soap Guiding Light have are angry over a tribute aired to the soap at the Daytime Emmy awards. Fans complain that the 90 second video tribute was not long enough to pay homage to the longest running soap in the world!

CBSGuiding Light will draw to a close in just a few weeks time after a staggering 72 years on air and so it was only fitting at this week’s Daytime Emmy award some tribute would have been made to the soap. However, fans are up-in-arms over the length of a video tribute to the soap claiming it simply wasn’t long enough to cover all the classic moments and characters from the soaps long history – reports Soap Central.

The tribute was devised by Michael Fairman, a producer and journalist, who originally created a four minute video covering the 57 years the soap has aired on television – Guiding Light was originally radio soap before transferring over to television. However, due to time constraints placed on the Emmy award ceremonies the video had to be cut down to just 90 seconds – a move which hasn’t gone down well with fans of the series.

However, the full length version has now been uploaded to You Tube and you can view it by clicking here >>
